Anne Grete Rendtorff, known professionally as Anne Grete, was a Danish singer born in 1947. She began her music career as a member of Van Dango from 1975 to 1981. In 1980, she launched her solo career with the self-titled album Anne Grete. Her breakthrough came with the release of "Vintertur på strøget", a cover of "Complainte pour Ste-Catherine" by Kate & Anna McGarrigle. In 1984, Anne Grete achieved local pop success with a Danish version of Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton's "Islands in the Stream", recorded with Peter Thorup. Throughout her career, she released several albums including Vinden vender (1982), Labyrint (1983), Farlig som ild (1984). Her compilation album, Skibe dden sejl, was released in 1998.
