Biography

Anita Lindblom, born Anita Eleonora Lindblom on December 14, 1937, in Hille, Sweden, was a Swedish singer and actress. Raised by her grandmother, she moved to Uppsala at two years old and later to Stockholm. She began her career as a dancer before transitioning into singing. Her musical breakthrough came in 1956 with her first single "Ljuva ungkarlstid/En hemvävd stillsam tös" on Polydor. In 1961, she achieved major success with the single "Sånt är livet" on Karusell Records. This was followed by hits like "Milord", a Swedish version of Edith Piaf's song, and "Det hav stjørnna sahat". In October 1961, she recorded "Sånt er liett" with Sven-Olof Walldoff’s orchestra, which became a Number One hit in Sweden. The single also topped the charts in Norway and reached the thirteenth position in West Germany with its German version "Laß die Liebe aus dem Spiel". She continued her success with albums like Schade Um Die Nacht (1962) and Cigarettes (1963). She ventured into acting, appearing in 13 films between 1957 and 1974. Her career spanned various genres, including pop music and gospel, with notable albums like Love in the Shadows (1978) and Anita Sjunger Gospel På Svenska (1982). She retired from public life in the early 1980s and lived in France until her death on September 6, 2020.
