Andreas Tschopp, born on May 15, 1979 in Zürich, Switzerland, is a trombonist known for his work in jazz. Tschopp studied trombone at the Jazz Department of the Basel Academy of Music under Adrian Mears, graduating in 2003. During this time, Tschopp was part of the funk band Starch, recording several albums and touring internationally. Post-graduation, he joined ensembles like Kaspar Ewald's Exorbitantes Kabinett, the Swiss Jazz Orchestra, and Hildegard lernt fliegen. In 2009, Tschopp co-founded the Vertigo Trombone Quartett, participating in productions such as Wagner at the Bavarian State Opera during the Munich Opera Festival in 2012. He also formed the band Skylark and played with artists, including Bob Brookmeyer's New Art Orchestra, Herbie Hancock, Chaka Khan, James Moody, Al Jarreau, and Kenny Werner. Tschopp has performed at prestigious festivals such as the North Sea Jazz Festival and Montreux Jazz Festival.
