Biography

Anacrusis, a progressive/thrash metal band from St. Louis, Missouri, was formed in 1986 by Kevin Heidbreder, Mike Owen, and John Emery. The group gained initial recognition with their 1987 demo Annihilation Complete, which won the best demo of the year award from Metal Forces magazine. This led to a deal with Active Records and the release of their debut album Suffering Hour in 1988, followed by Reason in 1990. After signing with Metal Blade Records, Anacrusis released Manic Impressions in 1991 and Screams and Whispers in 1992, both of which received critical acclaim but limited commercial success. The band toured extensively, including performances with Overkill and Megadeth. Despite positive reviews and a European tour in 1993, Anacrusis disbanded later that year. Notable songs include "I Love the World" and "Sound the Alarm".
