Biography

An Pierlé, nicknamed to her chagrin the Belgian Tori Amos, began her career with a cover of "Are Friends Electric?" in 1996. Despite the Flemish press's less than enthusiastic reviews of her debut album Mud Stories in 1999, the young woman persevered. She made a name for herself on stage, and regularly released albums of heavy melancholy. 2006's An Pierlé & White Velvet is no exception. Hinterland in 2010 is again recorded in the company of White Velvet. An Pierlé returns in February 2013 with Strange Days, a new album that includes a cover of Talk Talk. It is followed in September by the mini-album Strange Ways, then in 2015 by the soundtrack to the film Le Tout nouveau testament and in 2016 by the album Arches, which sees the artist draw on the majestic sounds of an organ recorded in Ghent's Saint-Jacques church.
