Biography

Roni Alter, born on March 9, 1982, in Herzliya, Israel, is an Israeli author, composer, musician, and performer. She began her musical journey with classical training before transitioning to jazz. In the early 2000s, she collaborated with Israeli singer Arik Einstein and opened for Norwegian artist Thomas Dybdahl. Alter gained prominence as the lead vocalist of Metropolin, an electro-pop group. Her debut solo album, Pocket Air, was released in 2010. In 2012, she moved to Paris and was mentored by Keren Ann, leading to her second album, Go Wild (2014), produced by Alon Lotringer and featuring Avishai Cohen on trumpet. Alter's EP Roni Alter (2018) earned a nomination for the Victoires de la Musique 2019 in the category “Album révélation de l’année.” Her subsequent album, Be Her Child Again (2019), includes the track "Devil’s Calling," which addresses sexual harassment experienced during her childhood.
