Amanda Strydom, born on July 23, 1956, in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, is a singer. She graduated from the University of Pretoria in 1978 with a Bachelor of Arts degree specializing in drama. Strydom's music career began in 1979 when she wrote her first song "Ek loop die Pad" (I walk the Road), which gained quick popularity. Her first album was the Afrikaans LP Vir my Familie (1983). She later released Vrou by die Spieël in 1996, followed by Ek Loop Die Pad, 20 Jaar in 2000 and Op 'n Klein Blou Ghoen in 2001. Strydom collaborated with various artists, including Janine Neethling and Didi Kriel. In 1986, she gained notoriety for giving the black power salute during a cabaret performance, which led to her being referred to as Amandla Strydom. Throughout her career, Amanda Strydom released several albums, including 'n Rugsak Vol Robyne (2005), Briewe Uit Die Suide (2007), Kerse Teen Die Donker (2008) and Stroomop (2010).
