Biography

Alyn Ainsworth was born on August 24, 1924, in Bolton, Lancashire, England, and was a British musician, singer, and conductor. He began his musical journey at a young age, recognized by Herman Darewski and allowed to tour with his dance band as a boy soprano. After his voice broke, he learned the guitar and played in local dance bands while working various jobs. Ainsworth's breakthrough came when he joined Oscar Rabin's orchestra, where he both performed and did musical arrangements. In 1951, he became the arranger-conductor for the BBC Northern Dance Orchestra, significantly contributing to its success. He left the BBC in 1960 to go freelance and conducted notable events such as multiple Eurovision Song Contests between 1975 and 1990. Ainsworth also provided music for various television shows, including Lena Zavaroni and Music in 1979. He passed away on October 4, 1990, in London.
