Biography

Allure was an American R&B girl group that was formed in Long Island, New York, in 1996. The group consisted of four members: Alia Davis, Lalisha Sanders, Akissa Mendez, and Linnie Belcher. They began performing during their high school days and were later discovered by Track Master's Poke, who helped them land a deal with Crave Records in 1997. Allure's self-titled debut album was released later that year and included the Nas-featured hit single "Head Over Heels," which peaked at number 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also contained the single "All Cried Out," which became their highest-charting single by hitting Number 4 on the US pop charts. Their studio debut was a commercial success, reaching Number 23 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart and obtaining gold certification by the RIAA in the United States shortly after. Allure's second album, Sunny Days, was released in 2001 via MCA and was the group's last outing to feature founding member Linnie Belcher. A third LP titled Chapter III appeared in 2004, followed by the EP Patiently Waiting in 2008 and the singles "Butterflies" (2014) with MC Shan and "Like I Do" (2018) with Dejha B.
