Biography
Brantley Keith Gilbert, born January 20, 1985, in Jefferson, Georgia, built his career by combining contemporary country songwriting with the weight and attitude of Southern and hard rock. After developing his craft in Georgia and working as a songwriter in Nashville, he signed with Average Joes Entertainment and released A Modern Day Prodigal Son in 2009 and Halfway to Heaven in 2010. His writing reached a broader audience when Jason Aldean recorded âMy Kinda Partyâ and âDirt Road Anthem,â the latter co-written by Brantley Gilbert and Colt Ford. Valory Music Co. signed him in 2011 and reissued Halfway to Heaven, which produced the number-one country singles âCountry Must Be Country Wideâ and âYou Donât Know Her Like I Do.â He won the ACM Top New Male Artist award in 2013. The 2014 album Just as I Am yielded further number-one hits with âBottoms Upâ and âOne Hell of an Amenâ and received the American Music Award for Favorite Country Album. Brantley Gilbert followed it with The Devil Donât Sleep in 2017 and Fire & Brimstone in 2019, his third consecutive number-one release on Billboardâs Top Country Albums chart. The latter included the Lindsay Ell duet âWhat Happens in a Small Town,â which topped Country Airplay. After collaborating with HARDY and Toby Keith on âThe Worst Country Song of All Time,â Brantley Gilbert released So Help Me God in 2022, featuring Jason Aldean on âRolex on a Redneck,â Jelly Roll on âSon of the Dirty South,â and Vince Gill on âHeaven by Then.â Tattoos followed in 2024 with appearances by Ashley Cooke, Justin Moore, Struggle Jennings, and Demun Jones. In 2025, Brantley Gilbert revisited earlier material through expanded editions of Just as I Am and Halfway to Heaven, released âWant You Backâ and âReal American,â compiled Greatest Hits... So Far, and signed with BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville. In 2026, he launched the Real American Tour and introduced âGood Damn,â âF**d Me Up,â âGood Olâ Boys,â and the title track from his eighth studio album, Sins of the Father, which was released on July 24, 2026 and included another Jelly Roll collaboration, âBegging for Change.â
