Biography

Known for her mix of country-pop songwriting and electric guitar skills, Lindsay Ell rose to prominence during the 2010s, when she began scoring a number of Top 40 singles in America as well as her native Canada. She was born in Calgary, Alberta, on March 20, 1989, and began playing guitar at a young age. Her first album, Consider This, was released independently 2008, followed by Alone in 2019. Lindsay Ell subsequently moved to Nashville at the age of 21 and began releasing a string of singles. 2013's "Trippin' On Us," 2014's "Pickup Truck," 2014's "Shut Me Up," 2015's "By the Way," and 2016's "All Alright" were all Top 40 hits on the Canadian country charts, with 2017's "Criminal" marking her first success in America, too. The song reached Number 1 in Canada and Number 19 on the US Country Airplay chart, while its accompanying album, The Project, peaked at Number 4 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. 2018's The Continuum Project failed to match its predecessor's success, but Lindsay Ell rocketed to Number 1 in 2019 with "What Happens in a Small Town," her gold-certified duet with Brantley Gilbert. Shortly thereafter, she was named the host of the prime-time TV series Canada's Got Talent, which greatly increased her popularity in Canada. Ell continued charting new hits, too, reaching Number 1 in Canada with "Want Me Back" (from the 2020 album Heart Theory) and cracking the Canadian Top 10 with 2022's "Right On Time."
