Biography

Love and Theft are the US country pop duo of Eric Gunderson and Stephen Barker Liles. Songwriters and vocalists Gunderson and Liles originally formed Love and Theft in 2006 with the addition of Brian Bandas, each taking turns to sing lead vocals while the others sang backing harmonies on their melodic country pop. After building up a solid live following they made their album debut in 2009 with 'World Wide Open', featuring the single 'Runaway'. Bandas left the band in 2011 and Gunderson and Liles continued as a duo. They released the album 'Love and Theft' in 2012 and scored a major hit single with 'Angel Eyes'. That year Taylor Swift wrote the song 'Hey Stephen' inspired by Stephen Barker Liles. After a dispute with their record label RCA Nashville, Love and Theft self-released their third album 'Whiskey On My Breath' in 2015, with the title track released as a single. The album saw Love and Theft adopt a stripped-down more acoustic and emotionally honest sound on tracks such as 'Everybody Drives Drunk' and 'Get Drunk and Make Friends'. In 2016 they released the single 'Candyland' and in 2018 the single 'You Didn't Want Me'. In 2019 Love and Theft released the single 'Gimme Tonight', heralding a forthcoming album.
