Biography
Schooner Fare, a folk band from Maine, United States of America, was formed in 1975 by Steve Romanoff, Gregory "Chuck" Romanoff, and Tom Rowe. The trio gained initial recognition through performances on Maine Public Television in November 1975. Their debut album, Day of the Clipper, was released in 1978. Schooner Fare's repertoire includes original maritime and traditional folk music, as well as songs addressing social justice themes such as "We the People". Notable albums include Alive! (1983), a live performance recorded in Bath, Maine, and Home for the Holidays (1987). The band performed extensively throughout North America and Maine. In January 2004, Tom Rowe passed away due to a heart attack. Following Rowe's death, Steve Romanoff and Gregory "Chuck" Romanoff continued performing as Schooner Fare, releasing albums such as And Both Shall Row (2005) and Roots and Wings (2010).
