Biography

Alain Markusfeld is a French songwriter and musician born in 1950 in Paris. At age 16, he established the groups Les Don Dièse and Les Alizés. Markusfeld was hired by Coluche in 1968 to perform at La Méthode ancienne and signed with Barclay Records in 1969. His debut studio recording, Le Monde en étages, appeared in 1970 and featured the track “Dors Madère”. He followed with the albums Le Son tombé du ciel (1971), which included the recording “Êve”, and Le Désert noir (1977). His work transitioned from progressive rock to contemporary jazz. Markusfeld released the solo recording Alain Markusfeld Live in 1981 and the single “Les Rêves de Calypso” in 1984. His later discography included the albums Roll Over the Eiger Trail (2012), Le Cri du photon solitaire (2015), and Hors cadre (2023). He was the subject of the media channel Alain Markusfeld's Radio.
