Biography
Aija Kukule is a Latvian singer born on 1 October 1956 in RÄzekne. She achieved professional recognition at the 1981 Mikrofona aptauja performing alongside LÄ«ga Kreicberga. They performed the track âDÄvÄja MÄriÅa meitenei mūžiÅuâ (1981), which achieved popularity across the Soviet Union and was later covered by artists including Alla Pugacheva. Her recording career includes the studio recording Naktsputni (1978) with the ensemble Modo and the eponymous extended play Dzied Aija Kukule (1980). In 1993, she received the Grand Music Award for her contributions to Latvian music. Her discography includes the studio recording Dzied Aija Kukule un "DzeguzÄ«te" (1985) and the compilation LabÄkÄs dziesmas (2005).
