Adversus is a German dark metal ensemble formed in 2000 in Offenbach am Main. Established as a project by Torsten Schneyer, the group released the demo recording âEin erster Funkeâ in 2001. The ensemble signed with the label Sonorium and released its debut studio recording, Winter, so unsagbar Winter..., in 2003. The group's music incorporated elements of electronic music, folk, and neoclassicism. Susanne Stitz provided vocals until 2006. The band's discography included the concept albums Einer Nacht gewesenes (2005) and Der Zeit abhanden (2010). The ensemble released the acoustic recording Laya in 2007, featuring the vocalist Aysel. The group's work focused on theatrical arrangements and themes of individual isolation and existentialism. Schneyer produced the artwork and literature for the recordings. In 2023, the ensemble released the studio recording Strafgericht.
