Abigail Williams, an American black metal band originally from Phoenix, Arizona, was founded in 2004 by guitarist Ken Bergeron. The group initially gained attention with their demo tracks streamed on Myspace and later released the Legend EP in 2007 through Candlelight Records. After going on hiatus briefly in 2007, Abigail Williams reformed and released their debut full-length album, In the Shadow of a Thousand Suns, in 2008. The album featured a symphonic black metal style and included notable songs like "Floods" and "Into the Ashes". Following extensive touring, including performances with Dark Funeral and Enslaved, Abigail Williams shifted to a traditional black metal sound for their subsequent albums In the Absence of Light (2010) and Becoming (2012).
