Biography

Whitechapel is an American metal band from Knoxville, Tennessee, founded in February 2006 by Phil Bozeman, Brandon Cagle and Ben Savage. The band's name is derived from the London district of Whitechapel, where Jack the Ripper committed his murders. The current line-up consists of Phil Bozeman (vocals), Ben Savage (lead guitar), Alex Wade (rhythm/lead guitar), Zach Householder (rhythm guitar), Gabe Crisp (bass) and Brandon Zackey (drums). Musically, the band moves between deathcore, death metal and progressive metal. Their debut album The Somatic Defilement was released in 2007, followed by This Is Exile (2008), which reached number 118 in the Billboard Top 200. This was followed by A New Era of Corruption (2010) and the self-titled album Whitechapel (2012), which reached number 47 in the US charts. Our Endless War (2014) entered the US charts at number 10. Mark of the Blade (2016) and The Valley (2019) continued the success. After Kin (2021), they will release their ninth studio album Hymns in Dissonance in March 2025, which includes the single "A Visceral Retch".
