Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet is an American acoustic group that was established in 2005. The band consists of Abigail Washburn on banjo and vocals, BÃ©la Fleck on banjo, Casey Driessen on violin, and Ben Sollee on cello. Drawing on old-time music and Chinese melodic and lyrical elements, the groupâs sound reflects Washburnâs long-standing connection to Chinese culture. Their debut album, Abigail Washburn & The Sparrow Quartet, was released on May 20, 2008, through Nettwerk Records. After the albumâs release, the group set out on a North American tour spanning more than one hundred dates, which included an opening performance for Earl Scruggs in Seattle, where Fleck also appeared onstage with Scruggs.
