31Knots, an American math rock band from Portland, Oregon, was formed in 1997 by Joe Haege on guitar and Jay Winebrenner on bass. The group's initial lineup included Joe Kelly on drums, who later left in 2003 and was replaced by Jay Pellicci. Their early albums, such as Climax / Anti-Climax (2000) and A Word is Also a Picture of a Word (2002), showcased their power trio dynamic. In 2004, they released the EP The Curse of the Longest Day, which caught the attention of Polyvinyl Records, leading to a signing deal. Their subsequent albums included Talk Like Blood (2005) and The Days and Nights of Everything Anywhere (2007), both of which received critical acclaim. The band's 2008 release, Worried Well, was well-received by music critics. In 2011, they released their album, Trump Harm.
