1200 Techniques, an Australian hip-hop group, was formed in 1997 in Melbourne. The group consisted of DJ Peril (Jason Foretti) as producer, percussionist, and DJ; N'Fa Forster-Jones as lead vocalist under the name Nfamas; and Kemstar (Simon Foretti), DJ Peril's brother, as lead guitarist. The group drew influences from various genres, including rock, funk, soul, electro, drum and bass, electro jazz, and breakbeat. 1200 Techniques released their debut extended play Infinite Styles in 2001 on Rubber Records, which included the single "Hard As Hell". Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut studio album Choose One in March 2002. The lead single from this album, "Karma", became a crossover success and peaked at Number 20 on the ARIA Charts. At the ARIA Music Awards of 2002, the group won two awards: Best Independent Release and Best Video for "Karma". They also supported Linkin Park on their 2002 Australian tour and headlined their own tour with support by American rapper Princess Superstar. Their second album Consistency Theory was released in January 2003, peaking at Number 38 on the ARIA album chart. The group went on hiatus in 2005 to allow individual members to pursue solo work. In October 2014, the group reformed and announced the release of a new extended play Time Has Come in February 2015.
