Zoar, an American instrumental musical group from New York City, was formed in 1995 by Michael Montes on keyboard as the primary composer, Peter Rundquist on guitar as co-composer, and Erik Friedlander on cello. Their music spanned genres including rock, gothic, ambient, classical, and experimental. The group released their debut album Cassandra in March 1997, followed by In the Bloodlit Dark in 2001. Their third album, Clouds Without Water, was released in 2003 and featured guest musicians such as Brendan Perry of Dead Can Dance, Matt Johnson of The The, Jennifer Charles of Elysian Fields, Julie Comparini, and Tony Levin.
