Biography
MC the Max is a K-pop and rock band from Seoul, South Korea. Originally a five-piece composed of lead vocalist and guitarist Lee Soo, keyboardist Heo Jung-min, bassist J. Yoon, and drummer Jeon Min-hyuk, the group began performing under the name Moon Child and released their studio debut Delete shortly after forming in 2000. Following the release of their sophomore effort Because of Love and Heo Jung-min's departure in 2001, the band re-emerged as MC the Max and issued a self-titled album that reached Number 12 on the Korean charts in 2002. Over the next few years, MC the Max grew a substantial fanbase in Japan, largely thanks to the support of Yoshiki, the bandleader of the highly influential Japanese rock band X Japan. Albums like Love Is Time Sixth Sense (2003), Solitude Love... (2004), The Rusted Love (2005), and the double LP Returns (2007) all peaked at Number 2 in their native country and helped the band win several awards and accolades on local music TV shows. After taking a short break from their musical activities to enlist in the army, MC the Max returned to the charts in 2014 with their seventh full-length Unveiling, which contained the chart-topping hit single "Wind That Blows." The group would score two more Number 1 hitsâ"After You've Gone" from 2019's Circular and "Bloom" from 2021's Ceremoniaâbefore dropping the EP Eternity (2022), whose title track rose to Number 98 on the South Korean streaming charts.
