Biography

Whistle was an American hip hop and contemporary R&B group formed in the 1980s, composed of Jazzy Jazz, Kool Doobie, and DJ Silver Spinner. The group later included Kraze and Terk after Kool Doobie left to pursue a solo career. Whistle's breakthrough came with their debut single "(Nothing Serious) Just Buggin'" in 1986. Their first two albums, Whistle (1986) and Transformation (1988), were produced by Kangol Kid from UTFO and DJ Howie Tee, with Gary Pozner handling sound sampling and beat creation. The group's third album, Always & Forever, was released in 1990 and included their biggest R&B hit single, a cover of Heatwave's "Always and Forever", which reached Number 35 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 in June 1990. After shifting to an R&B sound with songs like "Barbara's Bedroom" (1987) and "Bad Habit" (1990), Whistle released their fourth album, Get The Love, in 1992. Following this release, the group disbanded. Jazzy Jazz went on to form G.H.P. (Group Home Productions), while Terk ventured into politics and entertainment entrepreneurship.
