Wess Johnson and Dori Ghezzi formed the Italian pop duo Wess And Dori Ghezzi in 1972 after being signed by the same record label. Their first single, "Voglio Stare Con Te", was released in 1972 and introduced the duoâs blend of soulful vocals and rhythmic bass. In 1973, the single "Tu Nella Mia Vita" entered the Sanremo Festival, where the song finished sixth in the final; the track later achieved commercial success. The duoâs debut album Wess & Dori Ghezzi followed in 1973, and subsequent releases-including Era (1975), Un Corpo E Un'Anima (1975), and Amore Bellissimo (1976)-established their presence on the Italian charts. In 1975, "Era" represented Italy at the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, securing third place with 115 points. The duoâs final major chart success came with "Come Stai, Con Chi Sei" at the 1976 Sanremo Festival, where they finished second. After a brief touring period, the pair disbanded in 1979 to pursue solo careers. Wess Johnson died on 21 September 2009 at age 64 due to an asthma attack, while Dori Ghezzi continued her career as a solo artist.
