Biography

Waysted was a British hard‑rock band formed in 1982 by former UFO bassist Pete Way and Scottish vocalist Fin Muir. The duo recruited former Def Leppard drummer Frank Noon, guitarist Ronnie Kayfield and keyboardist Paul Raymond, and the group signed to Chrysalis Records. Their debut single "Women In Chains" preceded the release of the album Vices in 1983, which entered the UK charts at Number 78. The follow‑up The Good The Bad The Waysted (1985) and Save Your Prayers (1986) expanded the band’s profile, with "Heaven Tonight" becoming a staple of their live repertoire. Line‑up changes continued as members departed and rejoined, and in 1987 the group disbanded after a brief period of touring. Pete Way and Fin Muir reunited Waysted in 2003, adding Chris George and Paul “RD” Haslin to the lineup; the reformed band released Back From The Dead (2004) and The Harsh Reality (2007) before ceasing new output. The band toured the UK in 2008 supporting The Harsh Reality, but no further material followed. Pete Way died on 14 August 2020 after an accident, marking the end of Waysted’s active history. The group’s catalog remains available through reissues, and their early albums continue to be referenced in discussions of early 1980s British hard‑rock.
