Biography

Alcatrazz is an American heavy metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1983 by Graham Bonnet, Gary Shea, Jimmy Waldo, Jan Uvena, and Yngwie Malmsteen. Their debut album, No Parole From Rock 'n' Roll, appeared in 1983 and reached number 128 on the Billboard 200. In 1984, the group released the live album Live Sentence. Following Malmsteen’s departure in 1984, Steve Vai joined the band for the 1985 release Disturbing the Peace. After Vai left in 1986, Danny Johnson joined for the final 1980s studio album, Dangerous Games. The group disbanded in 1987 due to financial issues. Following a period of activity as Alcatrazz Featuring Graham Bonnet between 2006 and 2014, original members Shea and Waldo reunited with Bonnet in 2017. The band resumed activity in 2019 and released the studio albums Born Innocent in 2020 and Take No Prisoners in 2023.
