Biography

Way Out West, an English electronic music duo comprising Jody Wisternoff and Nick Warren, originated in Bristol. The pair met in a record store where Warren was working, and discovered their shared musical direction. Initially producing under the names Sub-Version 3 and Echo, they gained recognition through remixes released as Way Out West. Their breakthrough came with the single "The Gift" (1996), which sampled Joanna Law's cover of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face". The duo signed to Deconstruction Records and released their debut album Way Out West in September 1997, which included hits like "Ajare" and "Blue". Their second studio album, Intensify, was released in August 2001 under Distinctive Records. It featured the Number 1 hit on the UK Dance Chart "Mindcircus". In 2004, Way Out West temporarily became a trio with the addition of vocalist Omi (Emma Everett) for their third album, Don't Look Now, which included singles like "Anything but You" and "Killa". After a hiatus, they returned as a duo in 2009 with the release of We Love Machine under Hope Recordings. Their fifth studio album, Tuesday Maybe, was released in June 2017 through Anjunadeep. Way Out West is also known for their remixes for artists such as Sasha and Tiësto.
