Biography

Wallice Hana Watanabe, known mononymously as Wallice, is an American singer-songwriter born and raised in Los Angeles. Of half-Japanese descent, she was named after Wallis Simpson and appeared in a Frasier Christmas special at age four. Wallice attended The New School in New York City, where she majored in jazz performance and voice before dropping out to pursue music full-time, a decision reflected in her song "23." In 2017, Wallice released her first single, "Nyc," followed by "Rx" in 2018. Her debut EP, Big Sugar, was released in September 2018 but has since been delisted from streaming platforms. She signed with Dirty Hit in 2021, the same year she released the single "Punching Bag," which gained significant attention after being included in Spotify's Lorem playlist, eventually amassing 4 million streams. This success led to her inclusion in Spotify's Fresh Finds marketing program, through which she released the single "Nothing Scares Me" in June 2021. Wallice's discography includes three EPs: Off the Rails (2021), 90s American Superstar (2022), and Mr. Big Shot (2023). She has opened for artists like Chloe Moriondo and supported The 1975 on their Manila and Australian tour in 2023. The following year, Wallice returned with the singles "Heaven Has to Happen" and "The Opener," the first two singles from her studio debut The Jester, released in late 2024.
