Biography

Vreid, a Norwegian black metal band from Sogndal, Norway, formed in 2004 following the death of Valfar from Windir. They initially consisted of Hváll (Jarle Kvåle) on bass, Steingrim (Jørn Holen) on drums, Sture (Sture Dingsøyr) on vocals and guitar, and Ese on guitar. They released the debut album Kraft (2004) under Tabu Records. They released the third album I Krig (2007), which drew inspiration from poems by Gunnar Reiss-Andersen, a member of the Norwegian resistance during World War II. Ese left in 2009 and Stian "Strom" Bakketeig replaced the guitarist. Their subsequent albums include Milorg (2009), V (2011), Welcome Farewell (2013), Sólverv (2015), Lifehunger (2018), and Wild North West (2021). They also released the DVD Vreid Goddamnit (2010), and notable songs include "Noen Å Hate" (2010) and "Blücher" (2009).
