Biography

French tenor Vincent Niclo was born in Paris on January 6, 1975, into an artistic family who fostered his interest in the performing arts. After studying at Cours Florent, the private French drama school, Niclo trained as an actor and studied modern dance. His first foray into the music business was in the theatre as an actor in the Marthe Vandenberg play Renaître à Bogota. From there, he started getting offers for TV and film roles before landing himself the role of Jim Farrel in the French musical production of Titanic. The renowned quality of Niclo's performance and ability as a singer led to roles being offered in other musicals and it was a natural progression for him to develop a solo singing career. He went on to become an established opera performer attracting large audiences and releasing albums popular in his native country. He has had three Top Ten albums in the French Mainstream Charts and has become one of the country's most popular classical crossover artists. His most successful album to date was Luis, which was released in 2013 and went to Number 3 in the charts. Follow-up albums Ce Que Je Suis (2014) and the Pascal Obispo-penned 5.Ø (2016) both charted in the Top 20 of the French Album Charts and he released the compilation An Evening with Vincent Niclo in 2018, in the same year embarking on a tour with Sarah Brightman. Tenor, Niclo’s seventh long-player, arrived in 2019 and achieved gold certification in his home country after selling 50,000 copies. One year later, the singer dropped Esperanto (2020), an album recorded with the aid of religious vocal group Les Prêtres Orthodoxes, mostly known for their appearance in France’s version of music reality show The Voice.
