Vincent Louis DiCola, born November 10, 1957 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, is an American composer and keyboardist. He began his professional music career after moving to California in 1981. DiCola's breakthrough came with the soundtrack for Staying Alive (1983), co-writing several songs with Frank Stallone. This led to his work on Sylvester Stallone's Rocky IV (1985), where he pioneered the use of sequencers and electronic music, notably using the Fairlight CMI and Synclavier II. He received a Grammy nomination for Best Album of Original Score Written for a Motion Picture or Television Special in 1983 and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song â Motion Picture for "Far from Over" (1984). DiCola also composed the score for The Transformers: The Movie (1986), which garnered him significant attention. He released several solo albums, including Piano Solos (1986) and Til All Are One (1997).
