Moev, an electronic band from Vancouver, British Columbia, was formed in 1981 by Tom Ferris and Cal Stephenson. The group released their first EP, Rotting Geraniums, in 1982, followed by the electro/techno pop album Zimmerkampf later that year. Moev's breakthrough came with the release of Cracked Mirror in 1981 and their subsequent albums Dusk And Desire (1985) and The Early Years (1987). The band's most notable album, Yeah Whatever, was released in 1988 on Atlantic Records/Nettwerk. This album featured the singles "Yeah Whatever", "Wanting", and "Crucify Me". Other members included Mark Jowett, Michela Arichiello, Madelaine Morris, Drew Maxwell, Julie Ferris, Kelly Cook, Anthony Valcic, and Dean Russell. Tom and Julie Ferris reformed Moev in 1999, releasing the EP Suffer.
