Biography

Lamb of God, formed in Richmond, Virginia in 1994, emerged from the college‑based collaboration of bassist John Campbell, drummer Chris Adler, and guitarists Mark Morton and Matt Conner, later joined by vocalist Randy Blythe and guitarist Willie Adler. The band’s early releases under the name Burn the Priest-Burn the Priest (1999) and New American Gospel (2000)-established their groove‑metal foundation. In 2003 the group released As the Palaces Burn, followed by Ashes of the Wake (2004), which entered the Billboard 200 at number 27 and sold over 35,000 copies in its first week. Subsequent albums Sacrament (2006), Wrath (2009), and Resolution (2012) continued this trajectory, with Wrath debuting at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and earning two Grammy nominations in 2010 and 2011 for Best Metal Performance. The band signed with Epic and Nuclear Blast, toured extensively-including supporting Metallica and Slayer-and released notable singles such as "Hit the Wall" (2011) and "512" (2015). In 2019 drummer Chris Adler departed, replaced by Art Cruz, and the band released the self‑titled Lamb of God (2020) and Omens (2022). The album, Into Oblivion, was released on 13 March 2026, marking the latest entry in a discography that spans over two decades of consistent output and chart success.
