Biography

God Forbid, an American metalcore band from East Brunswick, New Jersey, formed in 1996. The group released their debut album Reject the Sickness in 1999 through 9volt Industries and gained traction by touring with bands such as GWAR and Nile. Their breakthrough came with the release of Determination in 2001 under Century Media Records, which featured heavy rotation on WSOU-FM. The band's profile rose significantly after performing on MTV2 Headbangers Ball tour and releasing Gone Forever in 2004, followed by a slot on Ozzfest’s second stage. In 2005, they released the concept album IV: Constitution of Treason, which debuted at number 118 on the Billboard 200. The band notably won the Independent Music Award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Song in 2007 with "To the Fallen Hero" (2006). The band disbanded in 2013 following the departure of lead guitarist Doc Coyle, but reunited in 2022 for select performances.
