Biography
Uwe Kropinski is a German jazz guitarist and composer born in 1952 in Ost-Berlin. He began his career as a rock musician in 1966 and played in the band Die Cropies. In 1977, he began performing as a free-jazz and improvisational musician. Kropinski collaborated with East German jazz musicians including Conny Bauer. His recording history includes the albums Kropinski Solo (1985), So oder so (1987) and By the Way (1989). In 1991, he released the recording Guitar Guitar with David Friesen. Following a tour of Africa with musician Michael Heupel, Kropinski released the album African Notebook in 1995. His subsequent recordings included the albums American Dream (2005) and Marula in All (2008). He has also worked as a photographer and designer of album covers.
