Unlocking the Truth was an American heavy metal band from Brooklyn, New York. Formed in 2007 by Malcolm Brickhouse and Jarad Dawkins, the group initially included Alec Atkins on bass. The band gained attention through street performances in Times Square and around New York City, which were recorded and uploaded to YouTube and social media. In 2014, they became the youngest group to perform at Coachella and played at festivals such as Afropunk and SXSW. They supported major acts like Guns N' Roses and Motörhead (as well as other acts such as Queens of the Stone Age and Living Colour). In 2016, the band released their debut album Chaos after previously signing â and later parting ways with â a multi-album deal with Sony. Notable singles include "My Chains" (2017), "Come Closer" (2018), "Mama" (2018), and "Pretend" (2019). In June 2020, it was announced that the band had disbanded as frontman Malcolm Brickhouse pursued a solo career under the moniker Malxolm Brixkhouse.
