Biography

Born on May 14, 1973 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Shanice Lorraine Wilson-Knox – better known by her stage name Shanice – is an R&B singer, songwriter, musician, and actress. She is best known for her Billboard charting singles in the 1990s: “I Love Your Smile”, “Silent Prayer”, “Saving Forever for You”, and “When I Close My Eyes”. Shanice started her career on TV at the age of nine, appearing in commercials before becoming a cast member of Kids Incorporated. Next, her appearance on the pre-American Idol talent show Star Search earned her a deal with A&M Records. Her debut album, Discovery, was released in 1987 and spawned two Top Ten singles. Moving to Motown Records, she released her 1991 sophomore album, Inner Child. The album featured the massive hit single, “I Love Your Smile”, which charted in 22 countries. By her fourth studio album, Shanice, in 1999, she had moved to LaFace Records. The album featured her last Top Ten hit, “When I Close My Eyes”. At the end of the year, The Ultimate Collection was released featuring hits from throughout her entire career. After a seven year break, Shanice released her fifth studio album, Every Woman Dreams. Apart from her own albums, Shanice has collaborated with other artists and has had her own recordings featured on soundtracks to television shows and films like Boomerang, Beverly Hills, 90210, Pocahontas, The Meteor Man, and others.
