Biography
Jonathan Owen Bree, born on September 1, 1979, in New Zealand, is a singer-songwriter and music producer. He began writing songs at nine and played live as a drummer at twelve. In 1998, Jonathan Owen Bree co-founded The Brunettes with Heather Mansfield. They released their debut EP Mars Loves Venus that year. In 2002, he established Lilâ Chief Records with Scott Mannion. The Brunettes' notable albums include Holding Hands, Feeding Ducks (2002) and Structure & Cosmetics (2007). After the band disbanded in 2009, Jonathan Owen Bree launched his solo career with The Primrose Path (2013), followed by A Little Night Music (2015). His breakthrough came with "You're So Cool" from Sleepwalking (2018), which went viral on video streaming platforms. Subsequent albums include After the Curtains Close (2020) and Pre-Code Hollywood (2023). Jonathan Owen Bree also co-produced Princess Chelsea's Lil' Golden Book (2011) and contributed to "The Cigarette Duet", which became an internet phenomenon.
