Tristeza, an American post-rock band, was formed in 1997 in San Diego by Christopher Sprague, Jimmy LaValle, Luis Hermosillo, Stephen Swesey, and James Lehner. The group initially recorded their first single, "Foreshadow," in 1997, which was released in the spring of 1998 through Caffeine vs. Nicotine. Their debut album Spine And Sensory was released in 1999 by Makoto Recordings. The band's subsequent albums included Dream Signals in Full Circles (2000), Mixed Signals (2002), and A Colores (2005). Throughout their career, Tristeza underwent several lineup changes, with notable members including Eric Hinojosa, Sean Ogilvie, and Alison Ables. Their later releases included Fate Unfolds (2009) and Paisajes (2010). The band's music received critical acclaim both domestically and internationally, leading to tours across Europe, Japan, and the USA.
