Biography

Irish post-rock band God Is an Astronaut first appeared in 2002 with the album The End of the Beginning, released on the band's own Revive Records label. Made up of brothers Torsten Kinsella (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Niels Kinsella (bass, guitar) and drummer Lloyd Hanney, who also programs the electronic loops, the band attaches great importance to the visual scenography that accompanies them on stage. After a period with the Rocket Girl label, GIAA signed with Napalm Records and released the album Epitaph in 2018, recorded with Jamie Dean, keyboardist and pianist present from 2010 until these sessions, then back from 2020 to 2022. Absent during the gestation of Ghost Tapes #10 (2021), produced with his replacement Robert Murphy, he returns in 2022 for Somnia. In 2024, Embers, an entirely instrumental album, was produced in the original trio configuration.
