Biography

Originally formed in the 2000s as the Martin Küchen Trio, this Scandinavian improvised/free jazz group is comprised of alto and baritone saxophonist Martin Küchen, bassist Per Zanussi, and drummer Raymond Strid, the group gained a following thanks to their live performances. They released the digital only Live at Glenn Miller Café album in 2007. They changed their name to the Trespass Trio and released their debut album, “… Was There to Illuminate the Night Sky…”, in 2009. The critically acclaimed album was praised for its ability to lift the standard sax trio format to a new level. They followed that album three years later with Bruder Beda (2012). The trio’s next release was Human Encore (2013), a collaboration with American multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee. Four years later, the Trespass Trio reconvened and released the album The Spirit of Pitești (2017). In between the Trespass Trio’s albums, each of the musicians continued to collaborate with other artists while Martin Küchen has been a prolific solo artist as well.
