Teresa Marie Grammer, also known as Tracy Grammer, born on April 8, 1968, in Homestead, Florida, is an American folk singer. She began her musical career at age nine, playing a borrowed violin, and came from a musically inclined family. Grammer earned a bachelorâs degree in English literature from the University of California, Berkeley. Grammer is best known for her collaboration with Dave Carter as part of the folk duo Dave Carter and Tracy Grammer. They released three albums together during Carter's lifetime, with Grammer initially providing instrumental work and backing vocals before taking on lead vocal duties by their final album. After Carter died in 2002, Grammer continued to perform solo, releasing four solo albums, including The Verdant Mile EP (2005), Flower of Avalon (2005), Book of Sparrows EP (2007), and Low Tide (2018).
