Biography

Too Strong was a German hip-hop group from Dortmund, founded in 1989 by DJ Zonic and Pure Doze. The group initially performed at various hip-hop jams across Germany, with their early lyrics predominantly in English before transitioning to German. In 1993, they released their first single-EP, Rabenschwarze Nacht, through Tribehaus Records, which included the title track addressing political themes and graffiti culture. Their debut album Greatest Hits followed in 1994, leading to internal conflicts that resulted in DJ Zonic and DJ Brocke leaving the group. New member DJ Funky Chris joined, contributing to their next album Intercity Funk (1996), which explored core elements of hip-hop culture. The group disbanded in 2001 after releasing Royal TS, but reunited in 2004 for subsequent albums, including Dreamachine (2005).
