Biography

Fischmob was a German rap group formed in Hamburg in 1993 by Sven Mikolajewicz, Daniel Sommer, Rafael Stachowiak and Stefan Kozalla, who had previously been part of TBC Attack and Daily Opressors. The quartet released their first single, "Ey Aller", in 1994, followed by "Bonanzarad" the same year, establishing an early presence in the alternative hip‑hop scene. In 1995 the group issued the EP In Orange and the studio album Männer können seine Gefühle nicht zeigen, which featured socially critical tracks such as "Du nennst mich Penner" and experimental electronic pieces. The breakthrough came with the 1998 album Power, which reached number 29 on the German charts; the single "Susanne zur Freiheit" peaked at number 72 on the German singles chart. Collaborations on the album included Dendemann, the Stieber Twins, Smudo and Michael Beck of Die Fantastischen Vier. After the release of Power, Sven Mikolajewicz departed, prompting the group's dissolution. Post‑breakup, members pursued solo projects: Mikolajewicz under his surname, Stachowiak as Hofuku Sochi, and Kozalla and Cosmic formed International Pony. Fischmob’s brief but impactful career left a mark on the German rap landscape, with Power remaining a notable entry in late 1990s German hip‑hop discography.
