Biography

Tito Puente Jr., born on 2 June 1971 in the United States, is an American percussionist known for his work in jazz and Latin jazz. He began his musical journey in the late 1990s, drawing on his family's rich musical heritage and formal percussion training. His first major release was the Oye Como Va in 1996, which introduced his rhythmic style to a broader audience and set the stage for subsequent projects. In 2003 he issued GREATEST CLUB REMIXES, followed by Everybody Salsa (2005). The 2008 double release of Tito Puente Jr.: Greatest Hits and its digitally remastered counterpart consolidated his catalog and reinforced his presence in the Latin dance scene. His 2010 studio effort, Got Mambo?, showcased his continued exploration of traditional mambo rhythms blended with contemporary production. Throughout his career, Tito Puente Jr. collaborated with prominent Latin jazz artists, participated in international tours, and contributed to the resurgence of classic Latin dance tracks. His discography reflects a steady output of remix and greatest‑hits compilations that have maintained chart visibility in niche dance and Latin markets, affirming his role as a key figure in preserving and modernizing Latin jazz percussion traditions.
