Blue Rondo à la Turk were a British ensemble from London active between 1981 and 1984. The group was established by the singer and lyricist Chris Sullivan as a floating collective of musicians and featured a musical style blending salsa, pop, and jazz. Their recording career began with the debut track "Me and Mr. Sanchez" (1981) which reached number 40 in the United Kingdom and number 68 in Australia. They achieved professional recognition for the track which reached Number 1 in Brazil and served as the theme for the 1982 World Cup. They achieved professional recognition for the track "Klactoveesedstein" (1982) which reached number 50. Their debut studio recording Chewing the Fat (1982) reached number 80. Following the departures of the musicians Mark Reilly, Kito Poncioni, and Daniel White to establish the ensemble Matt Bianco, the group performed as Blue Rondo. Their discography includes the tracks "The Heavens Are Crying" (1982) and "Carioca" (1982). They released the studio recording Bees Knees and Chicken Elbows (1984) and the tracks "Slipping Into Daylight" (1983) and "Masked Moods" (1984). The ensemble became inactive in 1984. Virgin Records released the compilation Too Soon to Come (1986).
