Biography

Tim Kliphuis, born on September 30, 1974, in Utrecht, is a Dutch violinist known for blending gypsy jazz with classical and world music. He trained at the Amsterdam Conservatoire and gained prominence in 1999 while touring Europe with Belgian gypsy guitarist Fapy Lafertin's Quintet. Kliphuis released several albums, including Fleur D’ennui (2001), Fine & Dandy (2003), and Live at Djangofest Northwest (2005). He collaborated with notable artists such as Martin Taylor, The Rosenberg Trio, Richard Galliano, Frankie Gavin, and Charlie McKerron. Kliphuis has taught at the Conservatoire of Amsterdam since 2015. In 2016, Kliphuis signed a three-record deal with Sony Classical Netherlands, releasing Reflecting the Seasons, which peaked at Number 1 on the iTunes classical chart in 2017. He has also composed works addressing climate change and global issues, such as "The Five Elements" and "Phoenix Rising".
