Tim Kinsella, born on October 22, 1974, in Chicago, Illinois, is an American musician known for his distinctive singing voice. He co-founded the emo band Cap'n Jazz in 1989, which gained a cult following before disbanding in 1995. Following this, Kinsella formed Joan of Arc in 1995, serving as its lead singer, primary songwriter, and only continuous member until their breakup in 2020. He also participated in various projects such as Owls, Make Believe, Friend/Enemy, and Everyoned. Notable solo releases under Tim Kinsella(s) include He Sang His Didnât He Danced His Did (2001), Demands Feminist Critique (2002), Crucifix Swastika (2005), Field Recordings of Dreams (2007), and Tim Kinsella Sings the Songs of Marvin Tate by Leroy Bach (2013). In addition to his musical endeavors, Kinsella directed the feature film Orchard Vale, which premiered at the Chicago Underground Film Festival in 2007 and was later released on DVD in 2009.
