Biography
Thomas Enhco - born Thomas Cohen-Séat on September 29, 1988, in Paris, France - is a jazz and classical pianist, violinist and composer. Born into a family of musicians, the Casadesus, Thomas Enhco practiced violin and piano from childhood before moving on to composition and then improvisation at the Conservatoire National Supérieure De Musique in Paris. Guided by his stepfather, Didier Lockwood, he made his jazz debut with his trio, Thomas Enhco & Co. The group recorded the albums Esquisse (2006), Someday My Prince Will Come (2009), The Window and the Rain (2009), and Fireflies (2012). He left the comforts of his trio and moved to New York, where he recorded the album Jack and John with jazz icons Jack DeJohnette and John Patitucci (issued only in Japan in 2013). Thomas Enhco released Feathers, his first solo piano album, in 2015. The album served as a transition album and introduced his classical talents to the music world. As a classical pianist, he began to perform in many concerts round the world. He recorded two albums with percussionist and mirambist Vassilena Serafimova: Funambules (2016) and Bach Mirror (2021). During the course of his career, he also collaborated with many other musicians including family members Didier Lockwood and Caroline Casadesus, plus Michael Valeanu, Lise de la Salle, the Local Brass Quintet, and others. Thomas Enhcoâs list of awards includes a FIPA dâor in 2012 for his original music for the film Les Cinq Parties du monde and the 2020 Sacem Grand Prize for Jazz.
